Dan's Surprise Party

We’ve been celebrating Dan’s birthday for days but tonight was the big extravaganza!  The kids have been planning a surprise party in their room for weeks!  They have been decorating with hand made signs, lights, streamers and more!  They wanted to get Burrito Gallery for dinner (one of our favorites) and eat in their room.  Yes, I was not loving this idea but wouldn’t crush their big plans even if I was very worried about Salsa being slung all over the kid’s room.  The very thought of Dan and I with 5 Wogs squeezed in a room together was daunting but I kept telling myself, they have wood floors and I can wash their clothes or bedspread!

The kids made a make shift table on Bonnie’s bed with a Christmas tablecloth.  They got bowls with ice for the juice boxes and laid out all the food.  The moment arrived and Dan opened the door and got a big LOUD surprise! We all got our food, balancing it on all our laps and prayed for the best. Surprisingly, we finished with no spills whatsoever and now I know for sure that miracles do happen!  The kids delivered some homemade, microwaved smores to die for with a peanut chocolate ball on top!

Then the entertainment commenced!  Bubba was the DJ and Dan and I had the first dance to a beautiful Christmas song!  Then he danced with the girls and as if fate was working to make his birthday the best, a James Taylor Christmas song came on which is one of his favorites.  Annie was quite wired up and doing some very unnatural dancing with her loose joints allowing her arms to spin in a freaky way. Eddie was a hoot as usual!  He was scaring me half to death, balancing on top of a step ladder doing interpretive dancing, waving his hands fast back and forth with the music and then would thrust his hand up high in the sky!  Dan and I were amazed at how agile he was.  Should we have stopped him due to the danger level, ABSOLUTELY!  We kind of sat mesmerized at how good he was!

After the dance fest, Bonnie and Bubs strummed some unidentifiable songs on their guitars.  Besides KC ripping up the garbage all over the kitchen during the party, it was incident free!  KC was apparently bitter at the lack of invitation she never received. I think it was a Happy, yet somewhat psychotic Birthday for Dan. Overall, I know he has to feel very loved and doted on by his kids!
